Ali’i Kayaks, Wailua River Kayak Tour
Ali’i Kayaks, Wailua River Kayak Tour: This is a guided kayak journey with an afternoon lunch on Hawaii’s only navigable river in Kauai, the Wailua River. It runs through a sacred valley once reserved only for The Royal Family. The trip goes up the North fork and a tropical rainforest lined with scenic waterways and cascades are viewed. The deli lunch is yummy and served at a 120 foot waterfall after an easy hike. Wear a bathing suit under your clothes so you can swim over to the falls to have your picture taken. At the waterfall there are cats and chickens wanting a bite to eat.
The kayaks are manned by 1 - 2 people. We recommend the early morning trip as it has the easiest paddling upstream and very few boats on the river. As the afternoon approaches, there is more traffic on the river creating wakes so paddling may get a little more strenuous. Take water and a hat as the afternoon sun can be warm. Wear old shoes and clothing as the red earth will stain clothing and is difficult to get out of the fabric. A great adventure lasts approximately 4 hours. 1.5 hr Kayak and 2.5 hr hike and lunch at the waterfall. We have done this and highly recommend it. It's affordable and great fun!
