North shore beaches - Ke’e beach

There are so many beautiful beaches in Kauai that it is difficult to name them all! One of the favorite North Shore Beaches is Ke’e Beach. It has everything from great snorkeling and swimming to a perfect beach for sunbathing. Read more about Ke’e Beach and you will surely place it on your list of “must visit”!

Ke’e Beach
This is Ha’ena State Park, which is frequently called Ke’e Beach. When you are driving on the north shore and can’t drive any more then you have reached Ke’e Beach! Tourists and locals alike love this beach for its outstanding sunbathing, snorkeling, and swimming. The amount of sand on the beach is different from summer to summer, but the best summers are when the sand fills up the lagoon and creates a swimming hole. This allows for amazing snorkeling just outside the reef as well, but only on calm days. The water is unbelievably clear and you can see turtles and fish galore. It truly is a beautiful experience.

It is important to always be aware of the conditions in the ocean when at Ka’a Beach. The reason why is there is only one opening and that is from the reef. So, when big waves come in with excess water the only place for it to go is out the reef’s opening on the left side. If you are not paying attention to the ocean and big waves start coming in you could find yourself in a whole lot of trouble really fast. That is why it is so important to always keep track of the ocean and what it is doing.

You will find plenty of facilities at Ha’ena State Park, however you might have a hard time finding a parking place. If this occurs then don’t despair. There is a nice trick that you can use to find a parking place even when everyone else is driving around like crazy!

There is a dirt road to the right that you can take. Do so and follow it for several hundred feet. Make sure you stay to your left and you should find some nice parking spaces. If not, keep on driving and you will probably encounter other parking spots.

You will love Ke’e Beach and as long as you pay proper attention you can expect to have a wonderful experience each and every time. It is best to visit the beach on weekdays when there are fewer people out and about at the beaches. However, if you can only go on the weekend don’t forget the secret parking spots. They will really come in handy!
