Luaus in Kauai
If you have never been to a luau then this activity is a must for your list of things to do. There are many different locations in Kauai that frequently have luaus and it is up to you to decide which one to visit. Of course, you could visit them all and compare! Most of the Kauai luaus are rather small and a lot of fun. The show is usually upbeat and fast and the pig is always delicious!
The luau at the Princeville Hotel is right by the beach and the pool and the food is good. However, the show is not that great. The sunset over Bali Hai and the ocean is magnificent, however, so make sure you find a seat that faces the pool so you can see it.
It’s nice that there are free well drinks, beer, wine, mai tais, and the like however by the time the show starts the drinks are over. You will have plenty of food and lots of desserts to choose from if that makes up for the lack of drinks during the show. This luau costs $69 and occurs every Thursday and on some Mondays.
Drums of Paradise
The Drums of Paradise Hyatt Luaus is an ok option. Drinks are free all night and the food is good. The system for serving the food is not so great and the lines become pretty long, but other than that there’s nothing to complain about. The show is also pretty good although it is not the best on the island. The cost for this luau is $65.
Kauai Coconut Beach Hotel
The only place that has a luau every single night is the Kauai Coconut Beach Hotel. However, since they have a luau every single night one would think the show and food would be absolutely excellent. But, this is not the case. The show is ok and the food is fine, but it’s not what one would expect from the self proclaimed “Best Luau on Kauai.” The drinks are free all night so that makes it worthwhile. Also, one child is admitted free on some luau nights but not all. You should check before you go. The price is $59.
This luau is always held inside, which is a shame because there are plenty of beautiful nights on Kauai to take advantage of. The food is ok and the drinks are not very strong. The show doesn’t seem like one that would come from a hotel with talented performers. All in all its ok and the price is $57.
Smith’s Tropical Paradise
This is Kauai’s best luau and definitely worth the trip. The food is good and luaus are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The cost is $60 however there is the option of just seeing the show for $15. You will enjoy the show and it is by far the best one on the island. The bar is free until 7:30 pm.
